248/365: MsKitty Goes Dutch

These drawings were done using some of my objects.  I like the "Dutch" theme.   MsKitty would probably enjoy the smell of the dirt or the shoes….enjoy!

247/365: MsKitty & Toy Pony

I'm altering the format of my blog to accomplish two things:  faster loading time and, hopefully, better viewing.  Just click on the thumbnail and a full size image will show.   Thank you!

Today's studies "fun with composition".  The top study was done working with three colors:  hansa yellow, anthraquinode red and indanthrone blue.   I was studying alternations of white and dark; positive and negative shapes.  And, I was playing with establishing rhythms and patterns.  It's all about practicing and getting ideas.  I hope you enjoy today's studies.

244/365: New Painting Plus Drawing & Painting Exercises

Meet Ms Kitty and Toy Pony in Blue-Daisyland!  And, why Blue-Daisyland?  Shouldn't there be a place called "Blue-Daisyland"?  It would be a place where daisy grow big and tall; where cats and toy ponies play; where tic-tac-toe is the order of the day, and…well, life is good.  Sort of like my house, except the blue daisies are in my head!

And…I continue working away at my drawing and painting exercises.

Do you have a favorite drawing exercise?

230/365: MsKitty, Shells, and Caps

Just some favorites…I think I have many favorites.  MsKitty and the broken shell are done in sepia watercolor over graphite.  The drawings below are done with a ball point pen.

So, what are some of your favorite things to draw and why?  Do any of them become sort of personal or autobiographical?

Enjoy and thank you!

229/365: Meet “Der Fledermaus”…

Seems I needed a sort of quiet day.  Seashells make a nice day of drawing.

Then came MsKitty with "Der Fledermaus" (the bat).  Der Fledermaus came to me in Germany…I found him or he found me in Frankfurt Airport.  He was attached to a box of chocolates.  I call that divine, a sign, or something like that.  The chocolates are long gone.  But, Der Fledermaus has stuck around and been a rather nice friend to MsKitty and ToyPony.

The top drawings are graphite and ball point pen.  The bottom drawing is sepia watercolor over graphite.

Thank you and enjoy!
