Design 41, Still Life with Toy Pony

I have decided to continue working on my drawings for my series "Still Life with Toy Pony", at least for the time being. I'm along way off from achieving my goal of 20 paintings. I like to keep my mind in the series, and drawing helps.
I wanted to show you the particular shape in this drawing that became my "key shape"; see the shape outlined in blue. It was the shape that decided the direction the drawing was going. When I saw this shape, I liked it and decided the rest of the drawing would relate to that shape. This shape is in the vase and in my mind, it anchors the drawing. This is a new experience for me: to consiously decide the direction of the design based on a particular shape. It may be something for me to notice in the future.
I enjoy fracturing and playing with the planes of the figures. It's sort of like me…..a bit a skew!
