Drawing #52, Still Life with Toy Pony
First, a “Thank You” to my husband, and webmaster, Robert! It’s the first of the month and that means new theme design and colors, all based on my paintings. Thanks!
So close! Drawing #52 of Still Life with Toy Pony. I have a mini goal to get to 60 before the end of the month. That should be “do-able”, but sometimes life gets in the way. And, sometimes I really struggle with the drawings. I search for a composition that I like. Lots of smudging, lifting, turning things upside down!
I am also searching for ways to explain how I arrive at my drawing solutions. Today’s drawing was a direct reaction from drawing 51. At one point, I was frustrated with drawing 51 and drew a vase shape on the next page of my sketch book, see the “detail” image below, outlined in red. The shape became my “reference” shape for all other lines and shapes to relate to. It set the tone for the entire drawing. Oddly enough, it came together pretty quickly after I had the base shape.
I’m always interested in drawing “process”. If you like to draw, what’s yours?
