MsKitty with Three Shells; Studies
MsKitty is warming up to the beach, whether she likes it or not…so to speak. I keep working the idea of MsKitty and the sea shells. I keep wondering what a cat would do if it found itself on our beach. A great huntress, which I’m sure MsKitty is, would find all sorts of interesting things to investigate. Here she is depicted with her prizes: three shells.
I noticed that my little shell collection has only right handed shells; they coil the same way. There is a handedness to shells; I’m going to keep my eyes open for a left handed one.
The watercolor version is another “20 minute study”; this is definitely a challenge for me! I try to focus on shape up until the last minute, then add the lines for “detail”. I decided to do a longer pencil study last night. One of the shells was oriented almost head on. It was interesting looking at the foreshortening.
Having too much fun on the wild, wet and windy Washington coast!
