74/365: Ides of March! MsKitty Out Visiting!

After a few days of drawing from life, I just have play, experiment, fracture, fragment and repeat the design!
Then, this morning I had the idea to do a very quick study of the kitchen sink and associated household stuff around it. Naturally, MsKitty had to be there. This type of study is just meant to be quick, not accurate or a great composition. It's fun! If you have five minutes, it's entertaining. This is done on a scratch piece of paper with a roller ball pen.
"Creative Every Day" Challenge theme for March is "story". MsKitty's story is that she's on a quest…for discovery. What that really means is that I challenge myself to put MsKitty in all sorts of situations. We're getting ready for some major expeditions. The quick studies are done to prepare me to do landscapes and interiors. Another part of MsKitty's story is her friendship with ToyPony. As you scroll through the drawings, you might see that they get to go to all sorts of fun, fantastic places.
Enjoy your "Ides of March"

59/365: MsKitty Visits Mirror and…

….she finds me staring back at her! Inspired by Myrna Wacknov's blog, I am sometimes inspired to practice self portraits. I had the mirror tilted in order to try to get MsKitty in the mirror. Didn't quite work; I'm looking two different directions. I find it's harder than I think to draw and maintain a pose. How did Rembrandt do all those wonderful self portraits? Hmm….practiced maybe?
57/365: MsKitty Visits the Faucet

Visiting the faucet? Well, kitties think that water tastes better directly out of the faucet…or at least ours did. Plus, faucets have neat shapes!
I'm playing with different drawing instruments to get their feel.

I will be emailing the winners to secure their snail mail address to send ATCs.

And, here is today's daily drawing: #46! MsKitty again, still waiting for espresso. I was studying the foreshortening again.

MsKitty Defies Gravity in Spiral Gyre Land
MsKitty, being a cat, has the ability to defy gravity. It’s a cat thing. Not only can she defy gravity, but it seems to be the most natural thing for a kitty to do.
I’ve been reading Miles Batt’s book on creative watercolor. I have been wanting to play with how gravity plays with our idea of up and down in a picture. Today’s design is but one of multiple visits to gravity defying “Spiral Gyre Land”. I thought I'd put two different orientations side by side, just for fun! Please see below.
Note: Miles Batt’s book is hard to find, but can be purchased from him directly. It’s packed full of information. Or, perhaps you might get a copy to read through you library.
