106/365: MsK w/ Sea Shells & I’m Back

I was thinking about shells as metaphor.  They have such interesting potential meanings.  For me, they represent my local coastal environment.  Mostly, I like their shapes!

Speaking of environment, we (my husband and I) are home after being away for almost three months.  It will take me awhile to catch up.  I appreciate all the comments posted while I was gone.  I hope to be responding soon!

Thank you!

102/365: MsKitty with Bottle

Just practicing…..there are lots of fun shapes in the bottle!  After yesterday's "tight" drawing, it was nice to loosen up a bit!

73/365: Brush Drawing: MsK and Powder Container

MsKitty and the container again.  I thoroughly enjoy drawing with the paint brush!

DD19: MsKitty with Egg & Eggcup, v6

I love this kind of drawing.  I play with shapes, lines and values.  I am paying more attention to repetition; it’s a particularly useful design element!  MsKitty’s expression indicates that the egg on the eggcup might perplex her.  Do you suppose she’s waiting for it to hatch?  Enjoy!

Day 10: Just Me and MsKitty

For some reason, I decided to have fun with the "photo booth" on my Mac, ala Myrna Wacknov's "Drawn to the Mirror".  I rarely draw myself, but I started playing with pencil and paper.  Now, the angle of me to the camera lens is awkward.  I'm looking through the bottom of my bifocal lens trying to see what I'm doing.  Excuses?  Well, I just gave myself an extra hard assignment, because of the funny angle.   But, it was fun anyway.  It took me awhile to draw this; two sittings in fact.  I have a deeper respect for the graceful, fluid line Myrna Wacknov achieves while drawing her portraits in a short amount of time!

And, of course, I did another drawing of MsKitty with the egg cup.  This drawing took a half hour.  I was trying to push myself along a little bit faster.

I hope you enjoy today's drawings!  Admin note: I did the portrait last night.  Admin note two:  I usually post the day after I do them…just my routine.
