“Caught in an Autumn Wind”

I think I have reached a state of completion on this painting.  I call it “Caught in an Autumn Wind”, referring to the butterfly and the trees being blown by the wind.  And, it’s a hot wind.  The colors allude to the colors of autumn and the forest fires associated with the season.  The forest fires we saw in Oregon this fall where the inspiration for this piece.  I completed the small version in October.  I’m including it just for comparison.  They are not exactly the same; I have a tendency to change things as I work!

MsKitty in Blue DaisyLand, ATCs

I decided to recycle some of the unfinished watercolor paintings I have laying around.  The sheet I used for these Art Trading Cards (ATCs) was from a demonstration I did on the wet-on-wet technique.  These are just for fun and to study color!

MsKitty asks what better place to visit than Blue DaisyLand in the middle of winter? Enjoy.

KittyKitty on Red Pillow, Final Color Version

RedKitty on Pillow vc bvI’m always happy to post another completed painting.  Today’s piece is KittyKitty sitting on a red pillow.  She is full of kitty emotion!  Have you noticed kitties when they’re sitting on their paws, in between sitting and lying down?  They look like they’re hens sitting on eggs.  Yet, there is a tension; the cat could spring into action.  Or, take a nap.  This is the state I was thinking about when I designed this version of KittyKitty.  And, that’s why she’s red!  Enjoy!

MsKitty In Spiral Gyra Land; Blog Award

over_the_top (1)

Thank you Diahn Ott for the Blog Award!  Diahn’s artwork is stunning; she is the hostess of “Blind Contour Friday).   Diahn’s blog is wonderful, take a look!  I always check it out for what’s hot and cool in blog world!  More on the award in the next week or so!

Msk J in SpiralLand v1bv

…..MsKitty is visiting Spiral Gyra Land today.  Perhaps she wanted to go to interesting places; not your everyday sort of place.  Places one can only go if you’re drawn to it.  Perhaps, she’s reminding me that no matter where I go, I keep coming back..sort of the spiral/cycle thing.  We share this spiraling experience.

Or, perhaps Ms Kitty was a hippy kitty in a previous lifetime, a pop-culture sort of cat.  This cat just digs the bright colors…(did I really write this?)
Or, in this Post Modern world, MsKitty is, and she isn’t.
Hey, it’s December!  What better time to contemplate the silly?  Be in touch with your inner flake!  Enjoy!

Final Color Version: Design 38, Still Life with Toy Pony

D38fcv SLwTP bv 2Dec09

I completed a color version of Still Life with Toy Pony (ta da!).  This one has been sitting a couple of days, waiting for me to give it the final nod.  My intention was to alternate the colors, values and shapes to weave an interesting pattern.  Blue-ness should dominate.  I like the bold, flat, angular strength; it gives the otherwise still life some energy.

I welcome comments and critiques.
