86/365 And New Painting: MsKitty & Toy Pony Play

Time to share a MsKitty and Toy Pony painting.  It's the first of the duet that I've finished.  It's simple, bold and colorful.  I wanted it to have the feel of a childhood type painting.  And, be sort of festive!  And, I thought it fit with my drawing for today.

———-

I decided to work on low horizon designs.  While I was drawing, my husband said "constellations!"  I wasn't sure about the title, but, looking at it again, yes!  My intention was to have MsKitty and Toy Pony look like they are floating in outer space; ethereal; otherworldly; surreal.  So, why not constellations?  Besides, Joan Miro had a very cool Constellation series.  Version 1 for your pleasure.

Daily Drawings 28 & 29

I'm going to be off the net for a little while.  I'll be out "idea catching" with my daily drawings.

MsKitty Art Trading Card & Daily Drawing

Today’s postings are about playing with ideas and designs; some might call it doodling.  I thoroughly enjoyed each.  For the Art Trading Card (ATC), I used a piece from a painting in my hold-til-you-can-figure-it-out pile.  I had gold, green and blue as a ground.  So, what did I do?  Use red.  Blue or green might have been smarter, but I like how the red hues worked.

As for my little graphite daily drawing, it’s what I do with my doodles.  I had just gotten off the phone telling my Mom that I can entertain myself with paper, pencil and doodles for hours.  And, so I did just that.   I was thinking about a celestial, cosmic, surreal, out-of-body, primordial soup enriched with Golgi bodies, sort of place.  (Golgi bodies popped into my head as I was drawing.  I don’t think I have thought much about them since my college biology days.  They are organelles insides of cells in the body.)

It’s body month for participants in “Creative Every Day 2010”.  I’ve been working on a “body of work”, which are my MsKitty drawings.  But, as the month draws to a close, I keep playing with the word “body”.  That may explain why Golgi bodies popped into my head.  Happy creating!

23d Daily Drawing: MsKitty & Toy Pony on Caturday!

My sincerest "Thanks" to artist and fellow art blogger Pam Huggins!  Her drawings, cartoons, and writing make for a terrific blog!  I appreciate the honor Pam!

MsKitty and Toy Pony needed face time.  They are buddies.  While MsKitty has been exploring, hitting the sauce, kneading napkins etc, Toy Pony has been cavorting with the tulips.  It’s a very busy studio; lots of action don’t you know!  So, they had to take a break and compare notes.

Double Toy Pony with Pot of Tulips

I thought I’d use a brush for some of my daily drawings.  I am much more comfortable with pencil; time to expand my comfort zone!  I rather like it, and I like working with the distortions!  For the time being, I'm going to use only sepia. I'm more interested in the drawing and tone than in color.  Enjoy!
